Important Information for our quilting service customers

Quilt Top Preparations

Quilt top must be square and all boarders attached properly. If the top is not square, this can cause a fullness that can result in puckers and or tucks in the finished quilt.

Quilt top must be flat, if it is not the excess fabric can cause creases, puckers or other issues with the quilting. When piecing, some helpful practices can be nesting seams, starching and/or ironing and use of a tailor's clapper can help with making seams lie flat.

Please check all seams to be sure that they are fully sewn and that all loose threads are trimmed. Any threads that are not trimmed may show and are not removable after quilting is completed.

Please mark the top of your quilt with a safety pin. May designs are directional so you want to be sure to let me know which way is up.

Backing

All backing must be 12-14 inches larger then the quilt top.

If you are supplying pieced backing, please be aware that I cannot guarantee that the backing will be centered.

All seams on pieced backings must be ironed flat.

Batting

We offer several different types of batting.  Some battings are special order and come with an additional charge depending on the size of the quilt and the type of batting.  You will receive a quote on the actual price of the batting before mailing in your quilt. If you are unsure about what batting you would like to use we are happy to provide you with the information you need to make the choice.

If you would like to send in your own batting, please make sure it is 8-10 inches larger than your quilt top. We will not accept pieced batting.

Thread

We offer multiple brands and types of thread Omni, Glide, Finesse, Isacord, King Tut and more. Some are special orders and take time and are an extra charge, which will be agreed upon before the quilt is shipped.

Our APQS-certified long arm quilting professional will work with your choice of colors. Some professionals will only work with one color thread, we will work with your choice(s).  If you are not sure of what color you would like, then please contact me and I will do my best to help you.

Yes, I can pick the color for you, this is not preferred manner, but we can discuss it.
